The arena, which opened in 1966, can accommodate up to 14,500 people per event, depending on the seating configuration. Los Angeles-based AEG owns a controlling interest in Valley View Casino Center. “Thanks to our partnership with AEG, the most recognized name in sports and entertainment, Valley View Casino Center has become synonymous with world-class sports and live entertainment events in San Diego, while providing exceptional brand exposure for Valley View Hotel & Casino and premium ticketing opportunities for our loyal guests and partners,” Bruce Howard, Valley View Casino & Hotel’s general manager, said in a statement released Tuesday. Financial details were not disclosed for the new contract extension, but a source close to the venue said it is for an amount similar to that in the 2010 contract. The 2010 deal saw the San Pasqual Casino Development Group Inc., which is owned by the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians, pay approximately $1.5 million to AEG for naming rights to the sprawling San Diego venue. The new agreement, announced Tuesday, means the name Valley View Casino Center will remain intact until at least the end of 2018, with an option to extend. Valley View Casino & Hotel and AEG have extended the naming rights agreement that led to the San Diego Sports Arena becoming Valley View Casino Center in 2010.
